No one knows the exact age of the human race, but everyone agrees it's old enough to know better.
-- unknown

We are, I think, maturing... It's just happening on a geological time scale. We are certainly more mature than we were in the dark ages, and it seems likely that we are more mature than we were a mere hundred years ago. I'm just not sure why it takes multiple generations to mature mankind when it only takes years to mature us on an individual basis.

I always thought that I was the only person who shotgunned pixy stix and danced down the aisle in the grocery store in my monkey slippers singing the doom song, but now I find that there are tons of us out there, and we all seem to be drawn to a name like "The Devil's Panties."
-- Jennie Breeden, artist and author of The Devil's Panties

Jennie is one of my favorite web celebrities, although I chickened out from meeting her at Dragon*Con 2005 because I just couldn't think of anything to say that didn't sound embarassingly dorky. But seriously... click on the link, check out her wonderful sense of humor. I suggest starting at the beginning and spending a day (or a weekend) reading it all. I mean, really, how can anybody not read something called "The Devil's Panties"? Especially when the subtitle is "It's not satanic porn!".

The wit makes fun of other persons; the satirist makes fun of the world;
the humorist makes fun of himself, but in so doing, he identifies himself
with people--that is, people everywhere, not for the purpose of taking
them apart, but simply revealing their true nature.
